This slim publication contains a cornucopia if information not readily available elsewhere. It is based on a North Eastern Railway official book then in my collection, printed for internal use, listing all NER locomotives in stock at 31.12.20, by number indicating the class to which it belonged and by class indicating the individual number of each member.

To this basic information has been added for each locomotive:-

1. Building date
2. Withdrawal date
3. Shed allocation at the above date
4. LNER and BR equivalents if the NER class designation
5. List of Loco Sheds

There are some MS annotations but these do not obscure the original text. It is an interesting thought that 48 years intervened between this work and the NER original… and now a further 48 years have lapsed before it has become available in BTT !
