He published his first book ”Structural Mechanics; A handbook for Engineers, Architects, and Students” in 1890 and in the same year, read a paper at the Institution of Civil Engineers “The Design of Railway Stations and Yards”. He took part in the discussions on a number of papers dealing with railway subjects at the “Civils” until 1929
